LANAO DEL SUR, Philippines – On his 5th visit to Marawi, President Rodrigo Duterte said martial law in Mindanao will be lifted as soon as the military clearing opetarions in Marawi is done.
“It will be lifted anytime after (clean up operations),” said Duterte on Thursday afternoon, September 21.
The visit coincided with the 45th anniversary of the declaration of martial law by the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
Duterte said it will be lifted as soon as Marawi is “safe” from explosives planted all over the battle area.
These are the operations that military said they will need to do immediately after the war before they can let the residents back into their homes. – RAPPLER
